The RK61 comes with Cherry MX red switches. The switches have a 2 mm actuation distance and a total travel distance of 4mm requiring 45g of force. The backplate is made out of plastic with minimal flex. The keycaps don’t wobble much except for the spacebar and the shift key which has some rattling. Other than that, the build quality is great.
The key caps on the Rk61 are made out of ABS plastic instead of PBT, so over the next few years, the surface of the keycaps will develop a shiny effect. The numbers on the keyboard are really small so it’s quite hard to read sometimes. Typing and gaming on this keyboard is very comfortable because of the ark design. The keycaps start high at the top and gradually decline, eliminating the need for a kickstand. Instead, there are four rubber feet behind the keyboard.
The micro USB is detachable but the length is only 180cm which is too short. The RGB lighting is a nice feature and there is also built-in software to change the lighting. The fact that something like this is available for a keyboard within this price range is pretty awesome.
